Ever since Aldi opened they have only been accepting cash and debit cards.
Their plan of having some of the cheapest groceries centered around their ability to cut costs with simple tweaks like requiring a quarter to get a shopping cart or not accepting credit cards to cut down on card processing fees.
They seem to be opting to go more for convenience now by announcing they are accepting all credit cards even including American Express! A lot of business you may have noticed dont accept Amex because Amex has a more expensive credit card processing fee they charge businesses when compared to the rest of the credit cards.
In a press release the CEO Jason Hart said:
“We care about being able to make our customers’ shopping experiences simpler and better every time they come to see us, And offering them the convenience of using their credit cards will help us do just that.”
If you use a credit card when doing your grocery shopping you can earn reward points or cashback effectively reducing your bills by 1% or more depending on the credit card you have. Just make sure to pay your balance off in full each month to make it profitable for you!
