Microsoft Launches a Rewards Program

Microsoft, yes that Microsoft, launched its own rewards program called Earn by Microsoft. It’s paying 5-10% back for purchases made at stores like Starbucks, Whole Foods, Papa Johns, Shell Gas, and more. For a limited time they are giving a free $10 bonus for all new users after your first qualifying purchase!

Earn by Microsoft is currently in Beta, which means that you can only earn and redeem your Earn Credits in Arizona, Massachusetts, and Washington for the time being.

I love these types of rewards programs because you earn automatically when you make your purchase. All you have to do is link your debit and credit cards to your Microsoft Earn account, linking is easy as it only requires your 16 digit credit card number. Right now they are only accepting VISA and MasterCard cards.

How Much Will You Earn?

This depends on the merchants but there is a minimum of 3% and a maximum of 10%. This doesn’t affect your current rewards you get for your credit and debit cards, so there is no downside in joining, you’ll be stacking rewards!

They also have a breakdown on their website that shows you all of the local restaurants you can earn 7% Earn Credits at.

How to spend your Earn Credits

Your Earn Credits can be redeemed in two ways:

  • Online at the Microsoft Store
  • At any local Microsoft Store in AZ, MA, and WA

You redeem them by using any card that is enrolled in Earn by Microsoft. 100% of your Earn Credit balance will be applied to your purchase.

$10 Sign Up Bonus & Referral Program

Right now they are giving a $10 sign up bonus after your first purchase if you sign up through a referral link. The person who refers you will get a $5 bonus once you receive your $10 bonus.

Signing up without a referral link will net you only a $5 bonus, so feel free to use my referral link when signing up to snag the $10!

Final Thoughts

I like Earn by Microsoft just because its easy to enroll your credit cards and debit cards in the program and requires no work after that.

The downside is definitely that they are only operating in AZ, MA, and WA but hopefully they will expand soon.
